SELLING YOUR DRESS

DRESS SALE CRITERIA

Here at Brides Dress Revisited’s bridal boutique, we pride ourselves in offering only the finest second hand designer wedding dresses. Our aim is to offer the bride-to-be a collection of beautiful dresses that look as good as new. With this in mind, quality and hygiene are naturally of the utmost importance to us when selecting stock and therefore we can only accept dresses that are:

less than two years old (proof of purchase may be required)
in excellent condition
are offered dry cleaned

CLEANING ADVICE

Whether you are planning to sell your dress or keep it forever, it is essential that you have it cleaned as soon as possible
after your wedding day and store it in a special way to prevent fading, damage and ageing!

Naturally, given our business of selling previously worn wedding dresses, we have seen various examples of dry cleaned gowns.
Some of these have been expertly cleaned, whilst others sadly have lost their shape, beading or colour.
It is alway so sad to advise a newly married bride that we are unable to offer her dress for sale after the cleaning process has ruined her dress.

With this mind, we would recommend that you use a specialist bridal gown cleaner
to ensure your dress is restored to pristine condition after your special day. It is probably the most expensive dress you will ever purchase so it is worth a few extra pounds to preserve it.

At Brides Dress Revisited, we are very fortunate to work closely with Terrington Burchett
who have over 50 years of experience in cleaning wedding dresses and are the only bridal gown cleaner to use
the specially formulated Baptiste Process (R) cleaning method. To find out more about Terrington Burchett click here.

If we are unable to find a buyer for your dress during the contractual period, we can either return your dress to you free of charge at a convenient time, forward your dress to charity or, alternatively discuss extending the selling period where appropriate.

Can I ask for my dress back during the contract period?2023-12-08T10:38:21+00:00

As we appreciate that all brides cherish their wedding dress, we do understand that from time to time, you may change your mind about selling your dress and may wish to withdraw it from sale prior to the end of our contractual agreement.
Upon notification of your decision, we are happy to return your dress within 7 days, but will unfortunately need to request a payment of 10% of agreed selling price along with any return delivery costs incurred.
Please note that dresses that have not been claimed within 12 weeks of the end of the contractual selling period will become the property of Brides Dress Revisited.

What are the conditions of sale of my dress?2023-12-08T10:40:16+00:00

Upon agreement, Brides Dress Revisited will market your dress both online and from our boutique for an initial contractual period of six months.  During this time, if your dress is sold we will forward between 50% and 70% of the selling price to you immediately and Brides Dress Revisited will keep the remainder of the monies.

Do you offer a collection service for my gown?2026-04-24T08:22:11+01:00

Once we’ve discussed the details of your gown and agreed on a selling price and commission rate, we’ll arrange for your dress to be sent to us in the way that suits you best.

You have two convenient options:

  • £40 doorstep collection from anywhere in the UK via our trusted courier (Monday – Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm)
  • £25 Post Office drop-off option, where we provide you with a prepaid label so you can send your boxed dress at a time that works for you

If you’re local to us, you’re also very welcome to drop your dress into our store free of charge.

Before sending your dress, we recommend packaging it carefully in a sturdy box to prevent any damage during transit. There’s no need to arrange additional insurance, as all of our courier deliveries are fully insured, provided the dress is suitably packaged.

Once your dress arrives with us and we’ve confirmed it’s suitable for resale, we’ll notify you and begin professionally promoting your wedding dress to find the perfect buyer.

  • £40 collection from your doorstep anywhere in the UK

On some occasions, whilst a dress may be offered to Brides Dress Revisited as ‘previously owned’ rather than ‘previously worn’, we may still deem it necessary to dry-clean the item in order to prepare it for sale.  If so, we will discuss the costs involved and request prepayment from you prior to arranging for the item to be cleaned.
